What do country clubs, cars, and mobile detailing have to do with each other?

Country clubs have members. These members have vehicles. And many country club members are the perfect target for your mobile detailing services.

Successful Country Clubs usually have over 1,000 members, so if you can become a reliable vendor partner of the club you have a tremendous opportunity for free weekly advertising to a captured audience.

And Country Clubs are always looking for ways to bring added value and convenience to their members.  They want their members to think of them first for services like haircuts, massages, dry cleaning and even car washes. 

Country Clubs know that if they can get a member on the premises, that they are likely to spend money in the dining room, at the bar or on the golf course.  While most clubs cannot afford to provide these services themselves, they are open to bringing in outside vendors to provide these services. 

Mobile Detail Marketing to country clubs

With that said, here are 6 steps and idea on how to get this going for your mobile detailing business! 👊

1. Where to start 📞

Consider contacting the club’s General Manager, Director of Golf or Head Golf Pro about offering your services on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. These are the busiest days for clubs, often with a full tee sheet of foursomes starting at 8 AM.

Since a full round of golf takes on average 4.5 hours, this should give you and your team an adequate amount of time to complete several details during the day while staying in one place. Rather than offer your full array of services, it would be best to develop 3 to 4 packages that the club could promote to its members. 

Be prepared to provide a professional flyer, email or other piece of information to the contact that would allow them to make an informed decision. Getting a YES make take some time, so don't give up after the first contact is made.

2. Scheduling

Golfers must sign up for tee times by either calling the pro shop directly or selecting an available slot online.  If a golfer calls the pro shop directly, they could be asked if they would like their car washed while they are playing. 

If the tee time is booked online, the club might be able to send out a confirmation email with a message asking if they want their car washed while playing and a link for them to make a reservation. 

 3. Bag Drop

Another way to promote the service would be signage at the Bag Drop advertising that you are onsite.  Give a spiff to the “Bag Boys” so that when the member pulls up to have their clubs unloaded the “Bag Boy” asks if they want to have their car washed. If the member says yes, then the “Bag Boy” finds out which wash package they want, takes the keys, and brings the car to you. 

Once you are finished with a car, you can park it in any open space at the club or the club might give you a designated area to park all the washed cars. As for the keys, these could be brought to the Pro Shop for the golfer to pick up after their round is complete. 

 4. Getting the word out

Finally, since most Country Clubs communicate with their members using email or text messaging on a weekly basis, it would be easy to inform their complete list of members that your business will be onsite offering car wash services. 

They could even provide an online form for members to sign up for a detail or wash package. This way, members who normally play during the week and might not be aware of weekend offerings would be incentivized to come to the club.

 5. Payment 💲

Regarding getting paid, there are a couple of ways this could be handled. One way is to require that the members pay you directly for the wash up front before they begin their round of golf. Just use the 4C Mobile Detailing Pipeline to send them the payment text or invoice and then you are set. You can also text them a specific link of the 3 packages or so you are offering, and they can complete the information there to include contact, vehicle information, payment, etc.

Another way is to have the members pay you through the Pro Shop using their charge account. This would allow you, as the detailer, to keep track of the washes done and settle up with the Pro Shop at the end of the day.  

 6. That's a Wrap

Once you have completed the service, you can send them a manual or an automatic text from the 4C Pipeline that let’s them know their vehicle is ready, where it is parked and where there keys are located.

Now when they come in from a round of golf, there car is clean and ready to go. And you have just gained a new customer and more than likely a future paying customer.

Final Thoughts:

Be patient though. This strategy for marketing your mobile detailing business is something that may take some time get going and grow.
